Welcome to Envision Mind Care's Depression Treatment Program

We understand that living with depression can be overwhelming, but you don't have to face it alone. Our specialized inpatient program is designed to provide comprehensive care to individuals struggling with depression, offering cutting-edge treatments to help you achieve the best possible outcomes.

What is Depression Therapy?

Major depression is a serious mental health condition characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in activities.

Depression therapy involves a range of treatments that target the underlying causes of depression and help alleviate symptoms, improving overall mental health and well-being. At Envision Mind Care, our depression therapy options include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), medication, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and innovative treatments like Ketamine, Psilocybin, and MDMA, which are reserved for patients who have not responded to conventional treatments and are only used under strict supervision and guidelines.

Depression Treatment Program

We specialize in treating treatment resistant depression with our intensive outpatient Depression Treatment Program.

Program involves initial assessment with a medication review, using TMS or Ketamine to help improve your treatment resistance depression. By using novel treatments like Ketamine and TMS, we hope to help you recover in weeks not in months or years.

We are focused not only on helping you recover from your depression, but also help you improve your attention and concentration so as to perform better in your workplace.

Our goal is to help you regain your life in full with reducing the possibility of relapse.

Treatment Program for Depression

Step 1: Initial Assessment with Therapist and Consultant Psychiatrist

Upon admission to our program, you will receive a thorough assessment by our experienced therapists or consultant psychiatrist. This assessment will involve evaluating your symptoms, medical history, and personal goals for treatment. We take the time to understand your unique needs and tailor a treatment plan that fits you.

Step 2: Clarification on Diagnosis

Once the assessment is complete, we will provide you with a clear understanding of your diagnosis. Our team will explain in simple terms what depression is, its causes, and how it may manifest in your specific case. We believe that education and understanding are crucial in empowering you to take an active role in your treatment journey.

Step 3: Advice on Management

Based on your assessment and diagnosis, our team will offer comprehensive advice on managing your depression. This may include a combination of evidence-based and experimental treatments, if necessary, tailored to your needs.

Evidence-based treatments include:

  1. Medication: You might be suffering from treatment resistance and have already tried SSRI and SNRI medications. We offer medication suggestions which does not increase weight or affect your sexual functioning. We listen to our clients concerns and if you prefer alternative treatments, we will consider the same. We will always encourage you to consider using medications in the long run as it is the cheapest and most effective form of treatment which will help you to maintain wellness.

  2. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS): TMS is a non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain, showing efficacy in reducing depression symptoms, particularly for those who have not responded to traditional therapies. This program is 5 days a week for 6 weeks - each session lasting around 45 min to 1 hour. Shortened 3 min sessions are also available.

  3. Ketamine : Available as Spravato (Esketamine), Ketamine is an evidence based treatment for treatment resistant depression. Racemic Ketamine (which contains both Esketamine and R Ketamine) could also be used effectively for treating depression. We have treated more than 300 patients effectively with a remarkable success in reducing suicidality and depression within few weeks of treatments. We help our patients suffering from treatment resistance to make a substantial recovery within a short period of time.

  4. Cognitive behavioral therapy : CBT is a widely recognized and effective treatment for depression, focusing on identifying and modifying maladaptive thoughts , feeling and behaviors to improve mood and overall functioning. We hope to provide psychological therapy along with your other treatments.

Experimental treatments, reserved for patients who have not responded to conventional treatments and used under strict supervision and guidelines, include:

  1. Psilocybin: Derived from "magic mushrooms," psilocybin is being researched for its potential antidepressant effects, with preliminary studies showing promise in reducing depression symptoms by promoting lasting changes in thought patterns and emotional processing. Psilocybin administration needs to be under a Special Access Program and this program will be available soon possibly in fall 2023.

  2. MDMA: Commonly known as "ecstasy," MDMA is currently being studied for its potential use in therapy-resistant depression, as it may facilitate emotional processing and enhance the therapeutic alliance, leading to improved treatment outcomes. MDMA is still very much under research and is not available at Envision Mind Care as of now.

Step 4: Program Duration

The duration of your depression treatment program will vary depending on the nature and severity of your illness. Typically, our program ranges from 6 weeks to 12 weeks. Our team will closely monitor your progress and work with you to determine the optimal duration for your individual needs, adjusting the duration based on your progress as necessary.

If you are from out of province or out of Country we will offer you treatment programs which can be shortened to 4 weeks.

Step 5: Follow-Up Care

We believe in providing comprehensive care even after your treatment program. Our team will offer follow-up care for up to 6 months , depending on your location. This may include regular check-ins, therapy sessions, medication management, and support to help you maintain the progress you have made during your program.
